Ernest Myers – Non-Executive Chairman
Ernie has held senior management and executive roles within a variety of ASX listed companies. During his career he has been instrumental in the capital raising and financial management of these companies. With skills and knowledge gained from vast experience in corporate, exploration and operational areas, he plays a key role in ensuring the Company’s financial stability. In addition to his role at Norwest Energy, Ernie is CEO & Executive Director of Pancontinental Oil & Gas NL.
Iain Smith – Managing Director
BSc.( Geophysics/Geology), MSc.( Petroleum Geology/ Geophysics), GradD. BA
Iain is a petroleum geoscientist with 30 years’ broad experience of the upstream oil & gas industry, both internationally and in Australia. His early career saw him work offishore UK North Sea, before joining Premier Oil as New Ventures Explorationist. Thereafter, Iain spent seven years in the geoscience services sector, before joining Woodside Energy in a commercial role. At Woodside he worked within the Exploration & New Ventures group, and subsequently the Browse LNG project, with responsibilities including commercial analysis and asset divestment.
In 2008 Iain joined private exploration company Neon Energy, as Commercial Manager, and was responsible for the subsequent merger with ASX-listed Salinas Energy. He managed the commercial and investor relations aspects of the company’s activities in Southeast Asia and California, including the high profile farmout of Neon’s two offshore Vietnam projects. In 2016 Iain joined Pilot Energy as Managing Director, overseeing an aggressive new ventures campaign that resulted in the low-cost acquisition of six exploration permits within Western Australia, including within the onshore and offshore Perth Basin.
Bruce Clement – Non-Executive Director
Bachelor of Engineering, Bachelor of Science (Mathematics and Computer Science) Masters of Business Administration
Bruce has 40 years’ oil & gas industry experience having held engineering, senior management and board positions with a variety of companies including ExxonMobil, Ampolex, Rock Oil, AWE and Santos. He has extensive experience and knowledge of the Perth Basin, previously managing development of the Cliff Head oil field for Roc Oil and, more recently, overseeing the discovery of the Waitsia gas field as CEO of AWE
Jo-Ann Long – Company Secretary & Chief Financial Officer
Chartered Accountant and a Graduate of the Institute of Company Directors
Jo-Ann is a corporate finance executive with over 28 years experience leading and advising corporations on all aspects of financial management, commencing with Deloitte’s and followed by 18 years in the petroleum sector, including Woodside Energy and Transerv Energy (now Whitebark Energy). Jo-Ann has particular expertise in joint venture management, commercial agreements, risk management and corporate governance. Jo-Ann provides company secretarial and financial services to Norwest Energy on a part-time basis.
Dean Powell – Exploration Manager
Dean majored in Physics at the Queensland University of Technology, Brisbane, graduating with a Bachelor of Applied Science. He began his career with West Australian Petroleum Pty Ltd (WAPET) and spent ten years with Origin Energy as Principal Geophysicist. For much of his career Dean has worked as a geophysical consultant for numerous companies, providing a wide range of technical and project management services on exploration and development projects in Australia, New Zealand and SE Asia. Dean has extensive knowledge and experience of the Perth Basin, and has provided services to Norwest Energy on a part-time basis since 2014.
Sue Gregory – Office Manager
Sue is Norwest Energy’s longest serving employee and often the first point of contact for shareholders, partners and suppliers alike. Sue keeps the office and team running efficiently with a broad range of responsibilities that includes accounting, supplier/contract management, management of internal/external governance processes, regulatory reporting and general assistance to the Norwest team.
